Dorothy L. Preston

Missionary Preston is the youngest of ten children born to the late Isreal and Annie K. Washington.  She was raised in Holiness and nourished under the pastoral leadership of the late Elder Frank O. Smith, New Jerusalem COGIC, Foxworth, MS.  She has been married to Bishop Kenneth E. Preston, Jurisdictional Prelate for MSSCOGIC, for over forty-five (45) years and is the mother of three daughters (Tamara, India, Kendra) with two granddaughters (Asia and Layla) and one deceased grandson (Kendrick).

 

She became a Pastor’s wife at the age of nineteen and has served in that capacity for over forty-five (45) years. She is currently the First Lady of Miracle Temple Evangelistic COGIC, a church founded by her husband and Pastor in 1987. 

 

Missionary Preston is a retired State of Mississippi employee (33 years) where she served in the positions of Senior Accounting Auditor, Lead Business Systems Analyst and Managing Consultant.  After retirement in 2012, she was employed as a Business Analyst by Global Resources, LLC and was afforded the distinct privilege of traveling throughout the United States. In January 2020, she also retired from MINACT Logistical services, LLC (Nissan North America) after seven (7) years of employment as a Financial Analyst.  In 1999, she started her own company, Prestod Consultant, working along with her husband, to assist churches in securing loans for New Constructions and Renovation Projects.

 

She currently serves as the First Lady and Assistant Supervisor of Mississippi Southern Second Jurisdiction.  Missionary Preston also serves as Membership Secretary for the International District Missionary Unit, under the leadership of Dr. Noma Roberson, the IDMU President.  Until her resignation in 2021, she had served as District Missionary of the Jackson District for fifteen (15) years, working with Superintendent Dr. Jesse Kelly. At the International Holy Convocation in 2010, she was honored as a “Woman of Achievement” by the International District Missionary Unit.

 

Missionary Preston is a graduate of Jackson State University with a BS degree in Business Administration, minoring in Accounting.  She is also a graduate of the C. H. Mason Jurisdictional Institute. She is a recipent of multiple awards, recognitions and certifications.  She is an Entreprenuer, a Certified Public Manager and a Mississippi Notary. She is an advocate and supporter for Gateway Rescue Mission and United Way. 

 

She has a firm belief in the scripture: Ecclesiastes 9:10 – Whatsoever thy hands findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom in the grave, wither thou goest.
