Kenneth E. Preston

But the Lord said unto him, go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me (Acts 9:15).  For many are called; but few are chosen (Matthew 20:16).

Born the fourth son of Mr. And Mrs. Albert Preston, Sr., Elder Kenneth E. Preston was called to the ministry at the early age of sixteen (16).  He was saved under the ministry of the Late Bishop J. D. Husband and his Pastor, the late Bishop J. E. Eaton.  At the age of nineteen, he was ordained and sent to Pastor his first church in Edwards, Mississippi by the Late Bishop Theo Davis in August, 1976.

For the past forty-five (45) years, he has been married to Assistant Supervisor Dorothy L. Preston.  He is the father of three (3) daughters (Tamara, India and Kendra). He, also, has two granddaughters (Asia Campbell and Layla Hickmon) and one deceased grandson (Kendrick Palmer).

Pastor Preston was the Owner/Executive Director of the MTEC Child Care Services, Inc. in South Jackson for over 33 years.  He previously served as an Administrative Assistant to The Late Bishop A.V. Jordan; his Personal Secretary for over 15 years and as Financial Secretary of the Mississippi Southern Second Jurisdiction.

He has served as pastor for five previous churches (Bethel COGIC-Edwards, St. Matthews COGIC-Baysprings, McCann Temple COGIC-Hattiesburg, Greater Collins COGIC-Collins, and Greater East Lampton COGIC-Columbia, MS). He is currently the Pastor/Founder of the Miracle Temple Evangelistic Church of God in Christ, Inc in Jackson, Mississippi, celebrating over thirty-four (34) years of ministry.

For many years, he traveled and worked with The Late Bishop J. D. Husband as part of the National Evangelistic Team.

On March 26, 2021, Pastor Kenneth E. Preston was elected by the pastors to be the Bishop Designate of Mississippi Second Southern Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction and on April 28, 2021, he was ratified by the COGIC General Assembly. In October of 2021, he was elected as Chaplain of the 2021 Virtual Episcopal Class. His consecration service was held and recorded at Greater Community Temple COGIC in Memphis, TN on November 3, 2021. The COGIC Virtual Episcopal Consecration was aired internationally on November 21, 2021 and Bishop Preston was inducted into the COGIC College of Bishops the same day.

Pastor Preston was co-owner of the Prestod Consultant Services, along with his wife, AS Dorothy Preston, who started the business in 1999.  The company had a 100% approval ratio (to date) in developing financial packages helping churches to secure funding for building and/or renovation projects. This partnership allowed them to be a blessing to many other religious organizations.

When the multi-million dollar facility of the Miracle Temple Evangelistic COGIC, located on nine (9) acres of land was burnt to the ground by a devastating fire in October 2018, Bishop Preston worked wholeheartedly to pay off and rebuild a new “state-of-the-art” facility with no further indebtedness. What a mighty God we serve!

Bishop Preston has a tremendous love for the Church and has devoted his life to the Church ministries and the total work of God.  His motto is I Cor. 11:1 – “Be ye followers of me as I, also, am of Christ”.
